About FTM
Mission
The Tomasz Machciński Foundation (FTM) is an independent organization operating at the intersection of archival practice, artistic production, and thinking beyond established canons. Its primary mission is to preserve and disseminate the artistic and intellectual legacy of Tomasz Machciński, alongside long-term stewardship of the artist’s archive and engagement with visual artists working outside the mainstream.
The Foundation provides conservation and inventory care for Machciński’s oeuvre and conducts research and documentation related to his work. In parallel, it develops an artistic program dedicated to supporting outsider artists and practices situated beyond the institutional art circuit.
FTM actively works to blur the boundaries between art brut and professional art, creating space for artistic practices that challenge dominant cultural narratives. Its activities focus primarily on photography and performance art, with particular attention to queer perspectives, crip art, and practices involving non-normative bodies.
An important area of the Foundation’s work includes publishing books and producing films devoted to art and artists aligned with its programmatic profile. The Foundation operates in Warsaw and Athens, collaborating with national and international partners. Its activities are non-profit and statutory in nature.
